👨‍⚖️ Congress on Digital Assets: Hearing on Wednesday

Congress has been making moves recently in the web3 space, most recently the passing of FIT21 in the US House of Representatives which now passes to the Senate for a vote. This is great for the the tokenization industry and it doesn’t stop there…

Mark your calendars because this Wednesday, June 5th at 9am EST there will be a hearing entitled “Next Generation Infrastructure: How Tokenization of Real-World Assets Will Facilitate Efficient Markets” - a hearing dedicated to our space for the Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology and Inclusion.

According to the Committee’s website, among the agenda they will be covering the “Tokenization Report Act of 2024.”

Who’s representing us though?

  • Mr. Carlos Domingo, Co-founder and CEO, Securitize

  • Ms. Nadine Chakar, Global Head of DTCC Digital Assets, Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation

  • Mr. Robert Morgan, Chief Executive Officer, USDF Consortium

  • Ms. Lilya Tessler, Partner, Sidley Austin LLP

  • Prof. Hilary Allen, Professor of Law, American University Washington College of Law

Any of those names sound familiar?
That’s probably because you’ve seen Securitize, the DTCC, and USDF be covered across What’s Drippin’, our TokenizeThis conference, our State of Security Tokens report series, The Security Token Show, and other content. These are great people to offer perspectives on various elements that tokenization touches across capital markets.

If you’re a member of Security Token Prime, you may have seen our CEOs thoughts on this in today’s Insights newsletter. Here’s an excerpt:

This could help push FIT21 through somehow by giving talking points to pass to the Senate (where the bill is now) or even lead to better legislative action in the form of new bills or as a part of others that relate to it. It all starts with subcommittee hearings like this one, I saw it happen before with the JOBS Act of 2012 for equity crowdfunding. Change may be slow but it can only happen if we have voices in DC to push our message: tokenization will improve capital market efficiency and lead to a better financial economy for all people.

⛏️ Tokenized Crypto Nodes, Infrastructure and Mining: Wolfer Finance

Have you ever wanted to mine crypto or run a node? Neither is a cheap or easy process… but the rewards could be nice. Well now you can invest into a company that can do it for you!

Wolfer Finance has been running master and validator nodes since August 2022 resulting in the following returns:

They’re opening up the doors for new investors to get in on the action for just $50! Some of that action includes the revenue generated by the nodes they operate but also a new piece of infrastructure they’re working on which they call PreSend.

PreSend aims to combat the “interoperability blackhole that causes millions of dollars in losses due to incompatibilities between wallets and blockchains.” As a non-custodial solution, before you sign a transaction it runs a precheck to make sure all is in order which if the transaction fails, it won’t go through. In a press release the CEO said

We filed our provisional patent in June of 2022, before any wallets or platforms were using any security technology, so PreSend could be the first to market this patented solution if our patents are issued.

Drew Wolfer, CEO at Wolfer Finance

This offering uses Regulation Crowdfunding (RegCF) which allows both accredited and non-accredited investors to participate via a funding portal, in this case that being Akemona. According to the offering page, there will be additional perks such as % token discounts, a welcome bonus, and more for the Class B share offering.

The RegCF has passed its $15K minimum, having raised $91,848 at the time of writing and can accept up to $2.5M through July 24, 2024.
