📊 Tokenized Reinsurance Targets 20% and 42% Returns

As you know, tokenization can be applied to basically any asset and in this case we’re seeing it used for reinsurance contracts. Oxbridge Re (Nasdaq: OXBR) is offering not one, but TWO tokenized offerings in the space:

• EtaCat Re – 20% (Balanced Yield)

• ZetaCat Re – 42% (High Yield)

This is offered through SurancePlus (subsidiary of Oxbridge Re which uses Securitize) and is meant to help investors make an investment based on their risk-return profile… smart because everyone has different tastes.

Hold on, what’s reinsurnace?

Great question! The summary is that an insurance company (cedent) may want to mitigate their own risk so they transfer some (or all) of their policies to another insurance company (reinsurer). This helps with keeping solvent, meeting capital requirements, and of course overall CYA. Think of it as “insurance for insurance companies”.

Unlike public equities and bonds, alternative assets such these can offer higher returns with even the EtaCat Re’s 20% being more than other assets offer. These two onchain offerings are available to accredited investors in the US through RegD and non-US investors through RegS at $10/ token and $5K minimum.

🇭🇰 ChinaAMC HK Issues Tokenized MMF to Retail

China Asset Management Hong Kong, or ChinaAMC HK for short, was approved by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) to offer a tokenized money market fund to retail investors.

Yes, we’ve seen a lot of money market funds. We’ll probably be seeing even more! The ChinaAMC HKD Digital Money Market Fund is possibly the first in Hong Kong and it’s available on OSL Digital Securities as of last Friday.

Who else is involved?

• Issuer: ChinaAMC HK

• Tokenization Agent, Digital Platform Operator, and Administrator: Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong)

• Fund Custodian: Standard Chartered Trust (Hong Kong)

With a minimum investment of just HKD 10 and daily subscriptions & redemptions, this offering resembles the retail nature of the product.
